I've just done the first two Grisman/Sebastian concerts, one tucked away in Maine,
the next for 1200 in Troy, and I'd have to say ... that's the most fun I've
had since my partnership with Zal
Yanovsky!
David is in terrific form these days, tearin' it up on mandolin, mandola, banjolene...and
a spontaneous vocal on "Hopalong Peter" [whew, he remembers all the
words !]
Every night's an adventure because we only write set lists to ignore. The "Satisfied" album
has even been visiting the bluegrass charts, and suddenly, we're booked into
'09 !
To stay in shape for Grisman, I'm playing as much as possible ... got the opportunity
to join
Steve Earl at the Bearsville theater-my first experience playin' with a beat
box since live "Tar Beach".
The two of us and a D.J. was pretty interesting. And next week it's on to Albany
to accompany Happy & Artie Traum. I'll be pumping up those callouses.
