Woodstock is reeling from the passing of Levon Helm, musician, bandleader, and vocalist without peer.
Lees' efforts on behalf of the town have been constant. Not a benefit went by that he didn't help out. His contributions to childrens music projects, Police and Firemans benefits, and just about anybody whose
house burned down or needed a hand, he was there.
What started as an afterthought to an already brilliant career became such a destination for players and listeners that we are having genuine trouble imagining how this goes without that bone-crunching back-beat...those eighth-notes rubbin' a shuffle....and that smile that let us know we were all in step.
I'm looking forward to a weekend with Levon co-conspirator Jimmy Vivino, while we work out some
material for upcoming Electric Duo dates.
And try to figure out what's next.
